CBC Original “Allegiance” Now In Production
CBC, in collaboration with Lark Productions, has commenced production for the character-centric police procedural “Allegiance,” set to be filmed in Vancouver and surrounding areas in BC’s lower mainland.
The CBC Original series is a venture with Lark Productions and Universal International Studios, featuring a cast that includes Supinder Wraich, Enrico Colantoni, Stephen Lobo, Adolyn H. Dar, Brian Markinson, and David Cubitt. Showrunners Mark Ellis and Stephanie Morgenstern, known for “Flashpoint” and “X Company,” will be guiding the series, which was greenlit by CBC in early 2023 and is slated for release on the CBC Gem streaming service and CBC TV in winter 2024.
“Allegiance” explores themes of identity, the intricacies of policing, and the quest for justice within an imperfect legal framework. The narrative centers on Sabrina Sohal, portrayed by Wraich, as a promising new police officer navigating the complexities of the system while attempting to clear her politician father, Ajeet Sohal, played by Lobo. She works in Surrey, her diverse hometown, with training officer Vince Brambilla, characterized by Colantoni, who acknowledges her talent but sometimes questions her methods. The series delves into the protagonist’s conflicts between personal, professional, and familial loyalties.
Produced by Lark Productions in association with CBC, “Allegiance” will be globally distributed by NBCUniversal Global Distribution. Alongside creators and showrunners Morgenstern and Ellis, “Allegiance” boasts executive production from series creator Anar Ali and Lark Productions’ Erin Haskett, Nicole Mendes, David Valleau, and Tex Antonucci. From CBC, key execs include Sally Catto, Trish Williams, Sarah Adams, and Gosia Kamela.
