Classic 70’s Comedy Good Times Returns as Netflix Animation, Friday April 12
The iconic 1970s sitcom Good Times returns in animated form, premiering on Netflix on Friday, April 12, 2024. This reboot brings a fresh perspective to the beloved series, offering a blend of humor and social commentary.
The show revolves around the Evans family, specifically cab driver Reggie (J.B. Smoove) and his wife, the aspirational Beverly (Yvette Nicole Brown). They navigate life in one of Chicago’s last remaining housing projects, raising their teenage artist son Junior (Jay Pharoah), activist daughter Grey (Marsai Martin), and drug-dealing infant son Dalvin (Gerald ‘Slink’ Johnson).
The series is a collaboration between Norman Lear’s Act III Productions, Steph Curry’s Unanimous Media, and Seth MacFarlane’s Fuzzy Door Productions. It is co-created by Ranada Shepard, who also serves as showrunner, and Carl Jones, known for his work on “The Boondocks.”
“Good Times” promises to deliver a mix of laughter and relevant social issues, showcasing the challenges faced by the Evans family as they strive to keep their heads above water in a system with its knee on their neck.
All 10 episodes of Good Times will be available to stream on Netflix starting April 12, 2024.
