Jeopardy! Recap, Winner and Today’s Final Answer, Friday March 22, 2024
In today’s episode of Jeopardy!, three contestants battle it out in the Jeopardy! Invitational Tournament. The players include Alan Lin, a software engineer from Los Angeles, California; Matt Jackson, a grad student in computer science & public policy originally from Washington, D.C.; and Terry O’Shea, a software engineer from Brooklyn, New York.
The categories for today’s game are “The Electoral College, By the Numbers,” “Nonfiction,” “Turning 60 in 2024,” “Words in Invitational,” “The Lyrical Stylings of Johnny Gilbert,” and “Time for Dessert.”
During Double Jeopardy!, additional categories include “The Old Testament,” “‘House’ of Entertainment,” “In the National Women’s Hall of Fame,” “Italian Words & Phrases,” “Composers,” and once again, “Time for Dessert.”
Throughout the game, each contestant has their moments to shine. Matt takes an early lead but faces strong competition from Alan. With a strategic double on Daily Double 2, Alan doubles his score. However, it is Matt who ultimately secures victory with an impressive wager on Daily Double 3.
Entering Final Jeopardy!, Matt leads with 41,200 points followed by Alan with 14,000 points and Terry with 5,800 points. The final category is “From the Ancient World.” The clue asks about an artifact that was captured by the British Army in Egypt in 1801 and bears the name of the city where it was discovered:
“Matt and Alan answer correctly (unfortunately for Terry) with What is the Rosetta Stone? With a successful bet of only 121 points on Final Jeopardy!, Matt advances to the next round with a final score of 41,321.
