Jeopardy! Recap, Winner and Today’s Final Answer Thursday April 11, 2024
The Thursday April 11 episode of Jeopardy! featured an exciting competition between three talented contestants: Alison Betts, a writer and creative executive originally from San Jose, California; Brian Hardzinski, a public radio producer with roots in Flower Mound, Texas; and Lee Wilkins, an Auburn, Alabama native who works as a regulatory affairs coordinator. Lee entered the game with a one-day champion status and prior winnings of $2,200.
The first round, Jeopardy!, offered a diverse range of categories, including “The Manhattan Project,” “TP,” “Unreal Estate,” “Double Letters in the Middle,” “Abbreviated Television,” and “A Year Ending in 4.” Alison took an early lead by correctly responding to the first Daily Double in the “Manhattan Project” category, adding $2,000 to her score.
At the first break, Lee had $600, Brian $2,200, and Alison was already ahead with $5,600. As they entered the Double Jeopardy! round, Alison maintained her lead with $9,000, followed by Brian with $2,400 and Lee with $800.
The category lineup for Double Jeopardy! included “The Manhattan Project” again, along with “Musicians’ Memoirs,” “Food Talk,” “Women in Ancient Times,” “Colorful Geography,” and “Some Timely Words.”
Alison continued to showcase her knowledge by correctly answering the first Daily Double, this time in the “Women in Ancient Times” category, adding another $2,000 to her score.
However, Brian soon launched a strong rally, correctly responding to the second Daily Double and gaining ground on Alison.
As the round progressed, Alison and Brian vied for the lead, with Alison eventually pulling ahead towards the end of Double Jeopardy! by capitalizing on Brian’s incorrect response.
Heading into Final Jeopardy!, the scores stood at Alison with $14,600, Brian with $14,000, and Lee with $3,200. The final category was “Space Shuttles,” and the clue pertained to two shuttles named after a commander who died in 1779.
Both Alison and Brian provided the correct response, with Alison wagering aggressively and emerging as the day’s champion with a total score of $28,600. Brian finished as the runner-up with $28,000, and Lee took third place with $3,200.
The correct responses to the Daily Doubles and Final Jeopardy! were: “What is Tammany Hall?” for DD1, “Who is Sappho?” for DD2, “What is Auburn?” for DD3, and “Who is Cook?” for Final Jeopardy!. This marked the third time in less than a year that James Cook has been the subject of a Final Jeopardy! clue.
Alison Betts’ impressive performance today showcased her broad knowledge and quick thinking, solidifying her victory and securing her place in future rounds of Jeopardy!.
