Kellie Shirley, known for her roles in “EastEnders” and “Death in Paradise,” has been cast in the BBC’s long-running medical drama “Casualty.” She takes on the role of Psych Liaison Nurse Sophia Peters, bringing a unique personal connection to the NHS.
In an exclusive interview with The Express, Shirley revealed that her mother, grandmother, and mother-in-law all worked for the NHS. She herself has gained valuable experience, working in neuro wards at King’s College Hospital in London and Lewisham Hospital between acting jobs.
Shirley’s character, Sophia Peters, is set to make waves in the ED. Upon her arrival, she will immediately clash with fan-favorite character Dylan Keogh, portrayed by William Beck.
Shirley’s body of work extends beyond “EastEnders” and “Death in Paradise.” She has made notable appearances in “Doctors,” “The Office Christmas Specials,” and “Call the Midwife.”
The actress is also dedicated to charitable causes. She serves as an ambassador for the esteemed charities Anthony Nolan and Mencap. Additionally, her talent has been recognized by BAFTA, who selected her to be part of their Elevate program, which supports working-class talent in the screen industry.
Casualty airs Saturday evenings on BBC One.
