Neil Cross, the acclaimed writer and creator of the Golden Globe Award-winning series ‘Luther‘, is back with a new Sky Original thriller, ‘Iris‘. Starring Niamh Algar and Tom Hollander, the series is set to commence filming this month in Sardinia, Italy.
‘Iris’ is described as a “sun-drenched chase thriller” that follows the story of Iris Nixon (Algar), a rootless and enigmatic genius who steals a code from a charming philanthropist, Cameron McIntyre (Hollander), and goes on the run. Armed with her lethal intelligence and chameleonic charm, Nixon must race to uncover the secrets of the code before she is found.
In addition to her role in ‘Iris’, Algar is known for her performances in ‘Mary & George’ and ‘The Virtues’. Meanwhile, Hollander, who plays McIntyre, has appeared in ‘The White Lotus’, ‘Feud: Capote vs. The Swans’, and Pride and Prejudice, among others.
Joining Algar and Hollander in the cast are Meréana Tomlinson (‘The Trials’), Sacha Dhawan (‘The Great’, ‘Doctor Who’), Maya Sansa (‘Good Morning Night’, ‘Dormant Beauty’), Peter Sullivan (‘Poldark’, ‘The Borgias’), and Debi Mazar (‘Younger’, ‘Entourage’).
The series is directed by Terry McDonough, known for his work on ‘Breaking Bad’ and ‘Better Call Saul’. McDonough said, “I couldn’t be more excited to share this world and these characters.”
‘Iris’ is a co-production between Sky Studios and Fremantle, with Wildside providing production services in Italy. It will be available on Sky and the streaming platform NOW in the UK, Ireland, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, and Austria. Fremantle will handle international sales.
