In the season two premiere of The Travelling Auctioneers, we are introduced to third-generation farmer Alan, who is ready to retire and part ways with the family farm as there is no one to inherit it. As he prepares for the sale, Alan must empty his farmhouse, four barns, and multiple outbuildings that house a wealth of furniture, heirlooms, and machines accumulated over 60 years of working the land.

Auctioneer Christina Trevanion is faced with the daunting task of identifying the true gems during her one day on the farm. She sifts through the belongings, hoping to find valuable items worthy of going under her gavel. Her search leads her to a treasure trove of collectible vintage toys hidden in the loft, Second World War gas masks stored in the bedroom, and an unusual machine with the potential to be a fortune-maker in the hallway.

Meanwhile, JJ takes a major risk by venturing into restoring a barn on the property. With the possibility of damaging the item beyond repair, he must navigate a delicate process. Guided by Christina’s expert advice, JJ handles a rare 1940s bell with utmost care, aware of its potential value.

During the highly anticipated auction day, all parties hope for successful sales, with the old bell carrying high hopes. However, surprising everyone, the unexpected star of the event turns out to be a sole survivor from a bygone era on the farm – a sock-making machine.
