Medical Center (CBS 1969-1976, Chad Everett, James Daly)

Long running drama series Medical Center told stories both professional and personal of the doctors and nurses of the Medical Center of a university campus in Los Angeles.

The hour-long series focused on Dr. Joseph Gannon and Dr. Paul G. Lochner. Joe Gannon was a 32-year-old associate professor of surgery at the university ‘Medical Center’— young enough to have empathy with many of his students who, on both a personal and professional level are sometimes at odds with the establishment.

Dr. Gannon serves not only as a hard-line instructor in a profession that allows no margin for error but also acts as counselor and emotional sounding board for the students as they make their way in the world.

Meanwhile Dr. Paul Lochner chief of staff at the medical center and the older of the two men — has the responsibility of maintaining the high standards of the center. By the second season, Dr Gannon was promoted to Director of the Intern Service, a job suited for a professional able to relate with interns.

Around these two medics, there are several doctors and nurses who work alongside and specially Miss Wilcox, the efficient secretary.

The pilot was called Operation Heartbeat.
