Play For Today: Wednesday Love (BBC-1 8 May 1975, Simon Rouse, Lois Dane)

In the Arthur Hopcraft Play For Today, Wednesday Love, two women, Jean and Norma, visit a drinking club on their afternoon off and meet a pair of young intellectual post graduate students, Gordon and Chris. Norma is clearly out for a good time and very quickly attaches herself to the cocksure Gordon.

Despite the fact that both Jean and Norma are married the pair begin to spend regular Wednesday afternoons with the boys. Norma and Gordon’s relationship also quickly becomes sexual but it’s the growing love affair between Jean and Chris that takes centre stage. Especially when the pair realise they are in love and Jean decides to leave her husband and two kids.
