You can guarantee the BBC wouldn’t have expected quite the acclaim and audience love that was generated for the reboot of 1970’s classic Poldark but it very quickly became essential Sunday night viewing in the first quarter of 2015.
Yes rather too much webspace was given over to talk (and pictures) of Aidan Turner scything with his shirt off but the series, set in 18th Century Cornwall and based on the fabulous novels by Winston Graham, was so much more than that. Intrigue, romance and derring do were the order of the day as well as superb performances from Turner and Eleanor Tomlinson as the waif he rescues and marries. Roll on series 2!!
