What is Into Iraq Episode 2 about

Michael’s trek deeper into Iraq continues when he reaches Kirkuk, the site of the 1927 British oil discovery when the British governed Iraq. The Iraqi government has once again proven to be inefficient and tedious.

However, they soon get entrance to the olifields, where few outsiders have ever set foot, and witness the 4,000-year-old flames rising from the earth that are the foundation of ancient Iraq. They are being followed around by a group of minders in a convoy.

Michael later meets Sarah, who takes him out to eat the national cuisine of Iraq, a fish called’masgouf,’ at a local restaurant.

Michael is curious about the lives of Iraq’s 40 million residents, so he plans to travel the length of the Tigris River, from its headwaters in eastern Turkey to the Persian Gulf.

He hasn’t gone there yet, but he’s been interested in that region of the world ever since he was a child. Michael is interested in learning more about Iraq, which is widely referred to as the “cradle of civilization,” as well as its turbulent current.
