The incredible life of Sir Bobby Charlton, one of England’s greatest footballers, is the subject of this documentary.

Sir Bobby played a pivotal role on the 1966 World Cup champion England team and in the illustrious and tragic history of Manchester United. Many of Charlton’s Busby Babes teammates perished in the 1958 Munich air disaster, but he made it out alive. He was instrumental in the club’s revival, which saw them win two league titles and the European Cup against Benfica in 1968.

In 1994, he was knighted, and in 2008, he won the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Lifetime Achievement Award. Charlton was a pivotal figure at Manchester United, serving as an ambassador, a club director, and a close confidant of several different managers.

The programme includes moving commentary on the Munich crash from survivors like Sir Bobby himself, as well as incredible archival footage from his football career. Football legends like Sir Alex Ferguson, Eric Cantona, Sir Geoff Hurst, Denis Law, David Beckham, and Wayne Rooney share their thoughts as well.
