World’s Most Secret Hotels “Episode 4” (Channel 4 Sunday 19 February 2023)

World’s Most Secret Hotels airs a new episode tonight Sunday 19 February 2023 on Channel 4.

“Episode 4” This series travels to some of the world’s most off-the-beaten-path hotels, including undersea retreats, desert lodges, cliffside homes, and treetop huts.

From a camouflaged fort-like resort perched on the brink of a mountain to mainland Britain’s most secluded hotel, this episode visits weird and interesting hotels in Uruguay, Sweden, Scotland, Oman, and the Netherlands.

We travel across Uruguay to an isolated region dotted with forests and lakes, where we stay in mirrored cabins built to mimic and intensify the natural beauty of the place.

Our Swedish excursion takes us to the Kolarbyn Eco Lodge, a rustic refuge consisting of 12 hobbit-like houses that were built here in the 1800s as a result of a resurgence in charcoal production in the area. Norfolk’s Cley Windmill, a windmill that has stood for 200 years but is often missed because of its rural location, is now home to a 10-room luxury hotel.

Formerly used to offload lumber freight from Russia and Scandinavia, the Harlingen Harbour Crane Hotel in the Netherlands has now been converted into a 17-story hotel with a bedroom, living room, and kitchen perched high above the water.

The most isolated hotel in mainland Britain is the Garvault, located in Scotland at the northernmost extremity of one of the country’s hardest to reach wildernesses, where the only nearby neighbors are the relics of Stone Age dwellings. In Oman, we travel to the region’s equivalent of the Grand Canyon in the Al Hajar Mountains, where we find a five-star hotel.
