One in six Australians experience infertility, and this season of Big Miracles sheds light on the struggles faced by couples who are desperate to start a family. With access to fertility clinics across the country, dedicated doctors, scientists, and nurses work tirelessly to create new life and give people the chance to have their own miracle baby.
Let’s meet the couples who will be sharing their journeys on this season of Big Miracles:
Sam (35) & Jason (38) from NSW: Sam and Jason faced severe challenges due to Sam’s severe endometriosis. Their rollercoaster journey in season one included two failed rounds of IVF and a heartbreaking miscarriage. However, they found strength to try again and were blessed with a miracle pregnancy. In season two, we will witness their preparation for the birth of their baby as they complete their family unit.
Sheila (46) & Tyson (47) from NSW: Sheila and Tyson’s yearning for children has been challenged by age-related fertility issues. Despite facing multiple failed rounds of treatment with Sheila’s own eggs, they turn to donor eggs as a last resort. We will follow their emotional journey as they search for an egg donor in their quest for a fairytale ending.
Emily (36) & John (37) from NSW: High school sweethearts Emily and John have been trying to conceive for four years but face challenges due to low ovarian reserve and low sperm count. After embarking on a weight-loss journey to increase their fertility chances, they turn to IVF. We join them in the next stage of their journey, hoping for a successful pregnancy.
Christie (32) & Perry (39) from VIC: Christie and Perry’s dream of starting a family was shattered by a severe ectopic pregnancy that resulted in emergency surgery. After failed rounds of IVF, they embark on an intensive investigation to uncover the reasons behind their fertility challenges. Their determination remains unshaken as they continue their quest for a baby.
Maddie (29) & Nathan (28) from QLD: Teachers Maddie and Nathan have been surrounded by children every day and long to become parents themselves. Maddie’s Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome has made conception difficult, leading them to pursue IVF. With three failed embryo transfers and five unsuccessful rounds of treatment, they refuse to give up on their dream.
Ilina (35) & Nick (29) from NSW: Ilina and Nick’s journey has been plagued by severe endometriosis, blocked fallopian tubes, and multiple failed rounds of IVF. Despite facing life-threatening circumstances during surgeries and recovery, Ilina remains determined to continue treatment. We follow their search for a new fertility specialist in hopes of finding success.
Rachel (36) & Heather (35) from NSW: Rachel and Heather’s journey took a heartbreaking turn when their daughter Eden passed away shortly after birth due to Preeclampsia.
