The BBC’s Antiques Roadshow visits Alexandra Gardens in Cathays Park, Cardiff, for an episode full of exciting discoveries and fascinating treasures. Airing on Sunday 31st March 2024 at 8:00pm on BBC One, this series continues the Roadshow’s legacy that began in 1979.
The experts, including Mark Hill, Joanna Hardy, and Lisa Lloyd, are in for some thrilling discoveries. Hill has the pleasure of uncovering a collection of precious memorabilia from The Rolling Stones’ early career, including an unused poster and unpublished photographs. Meanwhile, Joanna Hardy’s enthusiasm is piqued by an intricate piece of silver jewellery with Indian origins.
The sporting world takes centre stage as Lisa Lloyd is amazed by a rare Welsh rugby shirt, a memento from a historic match against New Zealand. Wayne Colquhoun celebrates the often-overlooked referee’s role in football with a collection of unique mementos.
Some moving moments are also in store, as Mark Smith encounters Napoleonic War medals, while Ronnie Archer-Morgan uncovers a small, inscribed disk, a haunting reminder of the transatlantic slave trade. Fiona Bruce also joins the fray, delving into the history of traditional Welsh music and attempting to determine the most valuable piece of colorful cameo glass.
