BAFTA-Winning “Dodger” Set to Deliver A Festive Heist in Upcoming Christmas Special on BBC

BBC’s BAFTA winning family comedy hit, “Dodger” is returning to screens with a Christmas special titled “Coronation.” The 55-minute episode, penned by Rhys Thomas and Lucy Montgomery, will feature an audacious plot by Fagin and his gang to snatch Queen Victoria’s crown during her Coronation. The special is set to premiere over the holiday season across BBC iPlayer, BBC One, and CBBC, boasting an impressive cast including Christopher Eccleston, Simon Callow, and Nicola Coughlan.

The BAFTA and RTS winning “Dodger,” a series that has captivated a family audience with its mix of comedy and adventure, announces a special holiday treat. Christopher Eccleston returns to his acclaimed role as Fagin in the special, bringing together a beloved cast featuring Billy Jenkins as Dodger and cameos from acclaimed actors Simon Callow, Nicola Coughlan, and Toby Stephens.

Produced by BBC Studios Kids & Family Productions and Universal International Studios, the special will see the charismatic gang engage in their most daring caper yet: a brazen attempt to steal the crown of Queen Victoria, played by guest star Nicola Coughlan. Other noticeable appearances include Simon Callow as the Archbishop of Canterbury, Paul Whitehouse as Royston, Chief of the Yeoman Guard and Toby Stephens portraying US President Martin Van Buren.

Creators Rhys Thomas and Lucy Montgomery, who also appear as characters in the show, expressed their excitement over the production: “We are overjoyed to be back in the top hat and what a thrill to pack another Coronation into an already regal year.”
