BBC Acquire Suits, St. Denis Medical & The Best Man: The Final Chapters
The BBC has secured the rights to three popular American TV shows from NBCUniversal Global TV Distribution for BBC iPlayer and TV channels: the legal drama “Suits,” the mockumentary “St. Denis Medical,” and the series continuation of the hit Best Man films, “The Best Man: The Final Chapters.”
“Suits” revolves around Mike Ross, played by Patrick J. Adams, who lands a job at a prestigious law firm despite not having a law degree, thanks to his exceptional memory. Alongside the brilliant closer Harvey Spector, portrayed by Gabriel Macht, they tackle legal battles while concealing Mike’s lack of formal education. The show features a talented ensemble cast, including Gina Torres, Sarah Rafferty, Rick Hoffman, Katherine Heigl, and Meghan Markle.
“St. Denis Medical” offers a comedic look at the challenges faced by healthcare professionals in an under-resourced Oregon hospital. Led by a cast that includes Wendi McLendon-Covey, Allison Tolman, Josh Lawson, and David Alan Grier, the series portrays the daily struggles of doctors and nurses juggling patient care and personal dilemmas.
Continuing the storyline from the beloved Best Man films, “The Best Man: The Final Chapters” follows the lives of Harper, Robyn, Jordan, Lance, Quentin, Shelby, Candace, and Murch as they navigate relationships and confront unresolved issues during midlife. The cast includes Taye Diggs, Sanaa Lathan, Morris Chestnut, Terrence Howard, and Regina Hall, among others.
“Suits,” comprising 134 episodes of 45 minutes each, is produced by UCP, under the guidance of creator and executive producer Aaron Korsh, along with Doug Liman, David Bartis, and Gene Klein.
“St. Denis Medical,” consisting of 13 episodes of 30 minutes each, is produced by Universal Television and helmed by Justin Spitzer, Eric Ledgin, and Simon Heuer, with Ruben Fleischer directing and producing the pilot episode.
“The Best Man: The Final Chapters,” featuring 8 episodes of 60 minutes each, is produced by Universal Television and overseen by executive producers Malcolm D. Lee, Dayna Lynne North, Dominique Telson, and Sean Daniel.
The BBC’s acquisition of these three compelling series showcases a diverse range of storytelling, from legal thrillers to workplace comedies and romantic dramas, promising an exciting lineup for BBC viewers to enjoy.
