BBC Confirms Renewal of Three of it’s Antiques Shows
The Travelling Auctioneers, Antiques Road Trip, and Celebrity Antiques Road Trip Renewed for New Seasons
The BBC has announced the renewal of three popular antiques shows: The Travelling Auctioneers, Antiques Road Trip, and Celebrity Antiques Road Trip. These series, which have become staples of BBC Daytime, will continue to delight audiences with their unique blend of history, treasure hunting, and restoration stories.
Antiques Road Trip, which first aired in 2010, will return for its 29th series on BBC One. The new season will consist of twenty 45-minute episodes, continuing the show’s successful run.
Celebrity Antiques Road Trip, the celebrity spin-off, will move to primetime on BBC Two for its 13th series. Sixteen 45-minute episodes will feature celebrities teaming up with antiques experts to scour the UK for hidden gems, adding a competitive twist to the classic format.
The Travelling Auctioneers, which debuted in 2022, has quickly gained a dedicated following and critical acclaim. The show won the Best Daytime Show at the RTS Scotland Programme Awards 2023, and its third series will consist of twenty episodes. The show follows a team of experts, including auctioneers and restoration specialists, as they uncover and restore neglected treasures in family homes, transforming them into winning lots at auction.
Muslim Alim, Commissioning Editor for BBC Daytime and Early Peak, expressed his enthusiasm: “Get ready for a treasure trove of entertainment! With their long track record, we’re thrilled to be working with STV Studios on these returning hit series. All three of them promise to deliver more riveting journeys from across the UK as experts hunt for, restore, and auction off unique finds.”
Craig Hunter, Creative Director of Factual at STV Studios, the production company behind all three series, added: “I’m delighted with the ongoing success of these returning STV Studios formats. This order is a testament to the BBC’s commitment to the Nations, and I couldn’t be prouder of the hard-working teams that continue to deliver a fresh twist on these much-loved brands.”
