Celebrity Race Across the World Will Be Back for Series 2 on BBC One
BBC Factual has announced that the popular show Celebrity Race Across the World will be returning for a second series on BBC One and BBC iPlayer. The first series of the show, which concluded last month, featured well-known celebrities leaving behind their lives of luxury to embark on a challenging race from Africa to the Arctic.
The first series of Celebrity Race Across the World was a huge success, captivating viewers with its heart-warming and inspiring stories. Celebrities such as McFly drummer Harry Judd, British racing driver Billy Monger, singer Mel Blatt, and broadcaster Alex Beresford took part in the race alongside their loved ones. The show provided a unique insight into the lives of these celebrities and their relationships with their families.
Like the regular series, the celebrities and their loved ones faced hardships and unexpected twists and turns during the race. They had to learn how to travel smart and on a limited budget, without the use of smartphones or credit cards. This added an extra layer of challenge to the already grueling journey.
The series received high praise from reviewers and proved to be a ratings winner for the BBC. The first episode of the series averaged 6.2 million viewers, making it the joint top episode of the brand so far. It also became the biggest factual entertainment episode of the year across the market for a new series.
Celebrity Race Across the World is produced by Studio Lambert, part of All3Media, and was commissioned by Catherine Catton, Head of Commissioning, Factual Entertainment and Events. The show is distributed globally by All3Media International.
