The chefs go to Italy (not in actuality of course but in cuisine region) in this episode of Chopped, airing on Food Network on Tuesday April 30, hosted by Ted Allen, as they compete using ingredients from the Emilia-Romagna region. The judges for this episode are chefs Scott Conant, Alex Guarnaschelli, and Gabe Bertaccini, who all specialise in Italian cuisine.
In the appetiser round, the chefs are given 20 minutes to create a dish using soppressata, pasta dough, newborn baby fish, and limoncello. The chefs are challenged to incorporate these unusual combinations of ingredients into their dishes, which are then evaluated by the panel of judges. The judges critique the dishes based on presentation, taste, and creativity, with one chef being eliminated, or “chopped”, from the competition.
The entree round features veal chops and bottarga, with the chefs given 30 minutes to create their dishes. The final round sees the chefs create desserts made with figs, with two Italian-born Italian chefs utilising quintessential Italian ingredients to create Italian desserts.
Chopped airs on Food Network at 8.00 pm on Tuesday, April 30, 2024.
