Code Blue: The Killing of June Fox-Roberts Premieres Thursday 3 August on ITV
The gruesome murder and dismemberment of grandmother June Fox-Roberts is the subject of this new two-part ITV documentary series.
The documentary begins with her distraught daughter calling 999 and continues to follow the case as the South Wales Police Major Crime team diligently searches for her killer.
Throughout the documentary series, we go behind the scenes of one of the most shocking cases handled by the South Wales Police.
“It was such a horrific murder and the acts post post-murder were horrendous. So we don’t know who the offender is. It’s a whodunit. We’ve got to find who this killer is and get them into custody as soon as we can.” – Detective Superintendent Darren George, Head of Major Crime for the South Wales Police
In the first episode, Det Insp Lianne Rees, the on-call senior investigating officer,, says on the way to the scene: “The circumstances sound quite horrific. And in all honesty, I don’t think I’ve ever had a call like this before.”
The murder of the 65-year-old woman appears to be random but extremely violent; the dismemberment of her body highlights this, and the South Wales Police must act quickly to apprehend the perpetrator. Abi, June’s daughter, provides a first-person account of the gruesome scene she encountered when she discovered her mother’s body in the film. She says: “I walked into the house, and that’s when our lives changed. I’ll never get those images out of my head.”
At the crime scene, officers find clues that suggest an unknown person was present in the house. Superintendent Richard Jones notes the size of the footprints and the fresh hair dye found in the bathroom sink, providing potential leads for the investigation.
The team examines CCTV footage for any information that could lead them to the killer. A breakthrough comes when a member of the public reports encountering a man in a container near June’s estate. However, the man, referred to as ‘Container Man’, eludes capture, raising concerns about his potential to harm others.
Detective Chief Inspector Matt Powell emphasizes the importance of identifying ‘Container Man’ quickly to prevent any further harm to the community.
This is a MultiStory Media production for ITV1 and ITVX.
