Documentary Series “The World According to Football” Premieres Dec 1 on Showtime
SHOWTIME SPORTS announce the premiere of a five-part documentary series called “The World According to Football.” The series, narrated and executive produced by Trevor Noah, focuses on different countries in each episode, including Brazil, the US, UK, France, and Qatar. The series explores how soccer teams and fans in these countries face global issues through the sport, such as women’s rights, income inequality, labor rights, mental health, racism, nationalism, and LGBTQ+ rights.
The first episode of “The World According to Football” will premiere on December 1 on SHOWTIME at 8pm ET/PT, with subsequent episodes debuting weekly for five weeks. The entire series will also be available for streaming on Paramount+ for SHOWTIME subscribers on the day of the premiere.
Gotham Chopra, the producer of the series, expressed that this project is one of the most important they have ever produced. He highlighted the collaboration with Trevor Noah and a team of brilliant creatives, emphasizing that the show aligns with the mission of Religion of Sports to explore critical issues through the language of sports.
The series is produced by Gotham Chopra’s Religion of Sports in association with Day Zero Productions and Mainstay Entertainment.
