Inheritance: The Jersey Murders, March 30, Sky Documentaries
The crime documentary “Inheritance: The Jersey Murders” will debut on Sky Documentaries and the NOW streaming service on March 30th. Directed and produced by Eloise Singer from Singer Studios, the series is backed by XYZ Films and Chris Smith’s Library Films.
Set during the 1987 Great Storm in Jersey, the disappearance of Elizabeth and Nicholas Newall leads to suspicion towards their sons, Roderick and Mark, after blood is discovered. Roderick is eventually captured off the coast of Africa, while Mark is arrested in Europe. Following a complex legal process, Roderick serves 12 years for double murder, while Mark serves 22 months and inherits the family fortune.
Decades later, the documentary uses previously unheard recordings between the brothers to shed new light, showing how Mark Newall later becomes a co-founder of a major e-commerce company.
Eloise Singer, the Director and Producer, emphasized the documentary’s lengthy production process and the importance of unwavering pursuit of truth and justice. Singer hopes the film will spark conversations about accountability and create positive change, collaborating with Sky to present the series to UK viewers.
Jamie Morris, Sky UK’s Director of Programmes, expressed excitement about bringing this astonishing documentary to audiences: “Eloise Singer and her team at Singer Studios have produced an incredible investigation into this gripping mystery that has to be seen to be believed, providing new light to a tragic story that has spanned decades.”
