Lenny Henry ITV Drama “Three Little Birds” First Look Clip
Rising stars Rochelle Neil (The Nevers, Guilt), Yazmin Belo (What Just Happened), and Saffron Coomber (Tracey Beaker Returns, Eastenders) star in the first look clip for Sir Lenny Henry’s Three Little Birds, which will premiere on ITV and ITVX later this month and on BritBox International in the United States, Canada, Australia, South Africa, and the Nordic markets in 2024. Tiger Aspect and Douglas Road collaborated on the series’ production.
Vibrant affecting, humorous, and deeply felt, the uplifting experiences of Sir Lenny Henry’s mother and all those who have come to Britain from abroad serve as inspiration for Three Little Birds, a series that celebrates the contributions of immigrants, communities, and strong Black women.

In Three Little Birds, we meet Leah (Neil) and Chantrelle (Coomber) and their virtuous, bible-loving acquaintance, Hosanna (Belo), as they leave Jamaica on a cruise ship bound for a new life in Blighty in 1957. The booming decade is set alight by promise, the rhythm of rock and roll, swing, Hollywood starlets, and glorious fashion.
Leah and Chantrelle’s older brother Aston (Javone Prince – Dodger) convinces them to leave their jobs as trainee nurses in Jamaica and travel to the United Kingdom in the hopes that they will bring him a wife. They are an eclectic group of strong characters who have left Clarendon, Jamaica for a variety of reasons, only to find that the climate change is just one of many downsides to their new home. Our intrepid trio faces many challenges as they try to integrate into British society and build a new life for themselves, but they are determined to succeed despite learning shocking truths about the lives they left behind.
The series also features Bobby Gordon (Hollyoaks) as the sisters’ new factory-work colleague Shelton and Arthur Darvill (The Sandman, Broadchurch) and Beth Hayes (Mr. Selfridge, Black Mirror) as Chantrelle’s employers Mr. and Mrs. Wantage, who have much higher expectations of their new live-in Nanny than just shepherd’s pie and watching their three children.
ITV’s Head of Drama, Polly Hill, and ITV’s Head of Production, Nana Hughes, commissioned and oversaw filming of Three Little Birds in The Midlands. The drama’s premiere airing can be seen on ITV1, and episodes will also be available on ITVX. The six-part drama is written by Sir Lenny Henry, Carol Russell and Avril Russell, and is produced by Tiger Aspect Productions in association with Henry’s own Douglas Road Productions. They are both affiliated with the Banijay UK group. BritBox International and Diederick Santer serve as Executive Producers for the series. Banijay Rights is in charge of export sales.
Stella Nwimo is the show’s producer, and Sir Lenny Henry, Lucy Bedford, Kate Crowe, Russell T. Davies, Charles McDougall, and Angela Ferreira are all Executive Producers.
