Melanie Hill Joins BBC’s Long Running Medical Drama Series “Casualty”
Melanie Hill, known for her roles in popular TV shows such as Coronation Street, Waterloo Road, and The Syndicate, is set to join the cast of BBC drama Casualty. Hill will be playing the character of Siobhan Mackenzie, the Clinical Nurse Manager of the Emergency Department.
Siobhan is described as a no-nonsense team leader who is expected to shake things up in the ED. With years of experience as a hardworking nurse, she arrives at a time when tensions are rising among the staff.
Melanie says: “I am delighted to be joining the cast of Casualty and I can’t wait for fans to meet Siobhan. She’s a supremely competent manager, who is firm but fair and expects nothing but the best from her nursing team. However, get on the wrong side of her and she’ll make mincemeat out of you! I’m sure she’s going to ruffle a few feathers in the Emergency Department.”
Produced by BBC Studios Continuing Drama for BBC One and BBC iPlayer, Casualty is the longest running primetime medical drama in the world. The series is scheduled to return to TV screens later this year and Melanie’s character will arrive on screen early next year. BBC Studios’ Jon Sen serves as executive producer, and Liza Mellody serves as series producer. The BBC’s Commissioning Editor is Rebecca Ferguson.
