Reality Series “The Bridge” Gets South African Version for KykNET
Banijay has announced that they will be adapting the reality competition format The Bridge for KykNET in South Africa. The series will be produced locally by Red Pepper Pictures thanks to a deal with Banijay Rights, making it the eleventh adaptation of the popular show.
What is The Bridge about
In The Bridge, complete strangers band together in a remote area far from civilization to take on a monumental task that will put their mettle to the test. Participants must cooperate to construct a massive bridge to an island in order to win the prize money. However, only one winner will be selected, and they must decide whether to split the prize money or keep it all for themselves.
The Bridge is an original Banijay format developed by Zeppelin (Banijay Iberia) and has already premiered in Australia, Brazil, and the United Kingdom, where it ranked first in its time slot among young viewers and was renewed for a second season in 2022. Four new adaptations of The Bridge aired on Prime Video in Denmark, Sweden, Norway, and Finland last year, and this year, a new adaptation will premiere on HBO Max in Hungary.
