The 73rd NBA All-Star Game on TNT Sunday February 18, 2024

The highly anticipated 73rd NBA All-Star Game is set to take place at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana. This exhibition basketball game, hosted annually by the National Basketball Association (NBA), showcases the league’s top players from both the Eastern and Western Conferences. The game will air on TNT at 8:20pm on Sunday, February 18, 2024.

The Eastern Conference All-Stars will be led by captain Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks. Joining him on the team are Joel Embiid of the Philadelphia 76ers, Jayson Tatum of the Boston Celtics, Tyrese Haliburton of the Indiana Pacers, and Damian Lillard of the Milwaukee Bucks.

On the other side, Los Angeles Lakers’ LeBron James will serve as captain for the Western Conference All-Stars. He will be joined by Kevin Durant of the Phoenix Suns, Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets, Luka Doncic of the Dallas Mavericks, and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The NBA All-Star Game is a prominent highlight during NBA All-Star Weekend—a three-day event that spans from Friday to Sunday. First held on March 2, 1951 at Boston Garden, this exhibition game brings together star players from each conference in a showdown that captivates basketball fans worldwide.

The starting line-up for each team is determined by fan voting while reserves are selected through a vote among head coaches from their respective conferences—excluding coaches from voting for their own players. In case an invited player is unable to participate due to injury or other reasons, a replacement is chosen by the NBA commissioner.

To ensure fairness in coaching selections for this prestigious event and avoid repeat appearances by successful coaches year after year (as seen with Pat Riley leading eight out of nine seasons between 1982 and 1990), “the Riley Rule” was instituted. According to this rule, the head coach of the team with the best record in each conference is given the honor of coaching their respective conference’s All-Star team.
