Murder Prevention (C5 2004, Conor Mullen, Sean Gallagher)
Crime drama series Murder Prevention focuses on the work of the MPU (Murder Prevention Unit) who specialise in stopping the crimes before they get the chance to occur. The team, all of whom bring specialist skills with them, are led by DCI Patrick Taylor, second in command is Ray Lloyd, one time Special Branch hard man. Others on the team include surveillance man Neil Stanton, victimology specialist Karen Hughes, profiler Mark Rosen and undercover man Maurice Gibney.
The series was made up of three two part stories.
Surprisingly gripping, often violent and full of bad language, MP is a well made series with a basis in reality, although it is a little heavy on the jerky camera movements for that post modern make you feel sick vibe. Scotland Yard has a real life Murder Prevention Unit – set up in 2001.
