What is this episode about
The 22-year-old Louis Rees-Zammit is already one of rugby’s hottest commodities. He is the face of a country that is obsessed with rugby because of his terrifying speed and footwork.
This documentary gives viewers unrestricted access to the Welsh rugby star both on and off the pitch as he prepares for the Rugby World Cup.
After being named Wales’ youngest-ever captain, he quickly signed a lucrative contract with Gloucester, one of England’s best clubs. The winger’s career has skyrocketed since he was called up to play for the British and Irish Lions at the tender age of 20. But he is only as good as his last game, and the pressure is on if he gets hurt.
With the title of “most exciting talent of your generation” comes a slew of perks, including photo shoots, commercials, clothing endorsement deals, high-end automobiles, and an Instagram following of over 200k. He’s grateful for the opportunities rugby has given him, especially the chance to travel the world on lavish vacations. His life has drastically improved, but the burden of responsibility is heavy.
This is what it’s like to be Louis Rees-Zammit, from the gruelling off-field training to the post-game debriefing with his loved ones at home. Dan Biggar, another member of the team, and World Cup champion and leading try scorer Bryan Habana both contributed to this work.
