Consent airs a new episode tonight Tuesday 7 February 2023 on Channel 4.

This brave and authentic drama takes place in the sixth grade of a fictitious all-girls private school. Newcomer Tom Victor’s Archie exemplifies everything that is great about the elite private school he attends: he is wealthy, privileged, and a top student.

Archie’s social media and online lives are governed by ‘lad’ culture, which provides him with easy access to porn and an intensive milieu, skewed by peer pressure, and where the borders of permission are dangerously minimised. Lashay Anderson’s Natalie has been awarded a full tuition scholarship to attend the university. She comes from the working classes, is rather bright, and comes from a completely different background than Archie does, yet the two hit it off right away. Archie recognises in Natalie the outsider that he, too, sometimes believes he is.

When things finally come to a head at a party one night, boundaries are breached, trust is lost, and the relationship between them is changed irrevocably. But how will the administration of Natalie’s prestigious private school respond to her allegations against ‘one of their own’?

Consent features an ensemble cast of young skilled performers, including Rhea Norwood (Heartstoppers), Ty Tennant (House of Dragons), Denzel Baidoo (Screw), and Alex Heath (The Serpent Queen), and is inspired by and based on hundreds of testimonies of young people’s experiences at state and private schools.
