What can we expect from this episode

Galicia is located in northwest Spain and is known for its Celtic roots; in episode two, the boys continue their Spanish spectacular there to enjoy the area’s 900 miles of unique and wild coastline.

They travel to the coastal village of Cambados in search of beautiful shellfish and join a group of strong, independent women clamming during low tide.

Hunting for high-value clams, such as the giant ones that can be found just below the water’s surface using basket rakes, is big business because size does matter. The work proves to be exhausting, so the men propose doing lunch in the RV for the two hundred women instead of working. Meanwhile, Gino and Fred have a mishap with the box of clams as a harried Gordon gets to work on the preparations.

The group then travels inland to the Ribeira Sacra valley, a renowned winemaking region, to discover the heroics behind winemaking there.

After going in circles in the rain, Gordon and Gino become enraged and make sure Fred falls overboard by insisting on taking the traditional rowing boat to the vineyard.

The steep hillsides on which the vines are planted—in some cases as steep as 70%—help explain why this beverage deserves the heroic wine label. Fred explains that the wine gained another name, “Obama wine,” after former president Barak Obama served it at a gala he hosted in Washington, DC, in 2017.

After making their way up the hill, Gordon, Gino, and Fred meet Esther, the 86-year-old heiress to the vineyard. Esther and her crew continue to work the hillside today. Before serving Esther a lunch of Galician beef and other local produce, they speculate on where they’ll be in 86 years. Gordon claims he’ll still be in great shape even though Gino claims he’ll be the Italian Peter Stringfellow.

After the RV gets mired in mud, the guys visit a well-known Celtic bar, where they sample flaming Queimada punch and the traditional Galician liqueur Orujo.

The next day they continue their journey, this time to the cathedral city of Santiago de Compostela, where they plan to explore the city’s enormous fresh food market and learn about the local delicacy of sea barnacles. Gino has a headache from the previous day’s travels.

After arguing about why Gordon should never have to drive the RV, the group decides to stop for some Aquakarting races against the clock. There’s a lot at stake: the victor gets to take the wheel of the RV for the rest of the trip.

Gordon is as eager as ever to get behind the wheel of the motorised dinghy and prove his mettle.

Later, they take their market haul to the beach and prepare traditional Spanish fare. Barnacles steamed in lemon, beer, and bay leaves are being prepared by Gordon while Gino prepares a warm Galician octopus salad. The guys take a celebratory, nude swim in the ocean to cap off their amazing Spanish experience.
