Emmy Award-winning Director Teams Up with ‘Slow Horses’ Writer for New Series

Sky has announced that Emmy Award-winning director Johan Renck, known for his work on ‘Chernobyl’, will adapt Andrew O’Hagan’s novel ‘Caledonian Road‘ for television. Renck will direct the series and produce it under his Sinestra banner alongside Michael Parets.

The series will be written by Emmy Award-winning showrunner Will Smith, known for ‘Veep’ and ‘Slow Horses‘. O’Hagan, a three-time Booker Prize nominee, will serve as executive producer.

‘Caledonian Road’ is described as a “Dickensian tale” that explores the rise and fall of Campbell Flynn, an art historian and celebrity intellectual. It is set in modern-day Britain and follows a case of corruption at the heart of the ruling class.

The series adds to the growing slate of projects under the Sinestra-Fremantle partnership, which includes adaptations of Antoine Wilson’s ‘Mouth to Mouth’ and Mona Awad’s ‘Rouge’.
