Amazon Prime Video’s New Series Explores a Cross-Class Romance and High-Stakes Drama at a Prestigious Private School
The upcoming six-part German-language television series Maxton Hall – The World Between Us, based on Mona Kasten’s bestseller Save Me, premieres on Amazon Prime Video on Thursday May 9. The series is created by head writer Daphne Ferraro and directed by Martin Schreier and Tarek Roehlinger.
Maxton Hall – The World Between Us is a modern love story between the classes at a prestigious private school. The series explores the lives of James Beaufort, a wealthy heir, and Ruby Bell, a clever scholarship student from a modest background.
Ruby, played by Harriet Herbig-Matten, is a reserved and quick-witted scholarship student at Maxton Hall. She dreams of studying at Oxford University. One day, she unwittingly discovers an explosive secret that could destroy James’s family’s reputation.
James, played by Damian Hardung, is a millionaire heir studying at Maxton Hall. When Ruby accidentally uncovers a scandalous secret that threatens his family, James is determined to silence her. However, their passionate exchange of words unexpectedly ignites a spark between them, triggering a complex relationship.
As the series unfolds, Ruby finds herself drawn into James’s world of privilege and power. Meanwhile, James begins to appreciate Ruby’s straightforward honesty and strong moral compass. Their relationship develops against the backdrop of a high-stakes school environment filled with secrets and social rivalries.
