Painting Birds with Jim and Nancy Moir Season 2, 17 April 2024, Sky Arts

Starting from April 17th, the second series of Painting Birds with Jim and Nancy Moir will be broadcasted on Sky Arts. The show’s first season was a resounding success and became the most-watched new program on Sky Arts in 2023.

In this upcoming spring installment, Jim Moir, alongside his wife Nancy, will continue their journey into the world of birds, exploring different regions of the UK in each episode. They will encounter various native bird species unique to each area while meeting ornithologists, local artists, and even some famous friends who will try their hand at creating bird-inspired artwork. Notable celebrity guests for this series include Justin Hawkins, Mary McCartney, Nitin Ganatra, Stephen Mangan, Joe Pasquale, Ronni Ancona, and Imelda May.

The adventures of Jim and Nancy will take them to Chatsworth Estate to spot dippers, Battersea Power Station to observe nesting peregrines, and the wild habitat of the Antrim Coast in search of puffins.

Additionally, viewers can expect to see a diverse range of artistic techniques demonstrated throughout their travels.

From creating linocuts of stilts and golden plovers in Wrexham to exploring The Hide Sculpture community project in Fingal Dublin and utilizing traditional Chinese ink and calligraphy brushes to paint Loch Mallochie in the Scottish Highlands.
