Series 3 Premiere, Professor T, March 27, ITV1
The highly-anticipated brand new series 3 of “Professor T” premieres on Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at 9:00 pm on ITV1. This season opener, titled “Heir to the Throne,” thrusts Professor T (Ben Miller) into an unfamiliar and challenging situation as he finds himself behind bars after a tumultuous end to the previous series.
The explosive finale of series two saw Professor T attempting to defend his old flame DCI Christina Brand (Juliet Aubrey), ultimately leading to his imprisonment. Now, both their careers hang in the balance as they face monumental decisions. Will Christina sacrifice herself by allowing Jasper to incriminate himself? Or will her conscience prevail against the formidable duo of Adelaide (Frances de La Tour), Jasper’s mother, and his therapist Dr Helena (Juliet Stevenson)?
Prison proves to be a struggle for the fastidious Professor T. The hostile environment filled with dirt and noise wreaks havoc on his OCD tendencies, and he becomes an object of curiosity among fellow inmates. However, it doesn’t take long for his brilliant criminal mind to be put to use as he assists some less-than-brilliant criminals with their cases.
Meanwhile, the police force still requires Professor T’s analysis and insight in solving a series of intriguing crimes. There have been shifts in power within the department as Lisa Donckers (Emma Naomi) secures a promotion and DCI Maiya Goswami (Sunetra Sarker) takes over from DCI Christina Brand with her abrasive and direct management style.
For young detectives Lisa and Dan, their relationship seems poised for progress until a tragic event tears them apart.
Throughout this season, viewers can expect revelations surrounding the night when a young Jasper discovered his father hanging. How much was Adelaide involved? What did she truly know about her husband’s death? With guidance from his therapist, Jasper embarks on a journey to uncover the devastating truth, despite Adelaide and the Dean’s attempts to shield him.
This season “Professor T” also welcomes guest appearances from Jeany Spark, Flora Montgomery, Jack Ashton, and Roger Barclay.
Tune in to ITV1 on Wednesday, March 27 at 9:00 pm for the premiere of “Heir To The Throne,” where Professor T must navigate prison life while his police colleagues attempt to distract him with a murder case involving two brothers.
