“True Crime Story: It Couldn’t Happen Here,” April 18, 2024, SundanceTV & AMC+

Hilarie Burton Morgan, known for her roles in One Tree Hill and The Walking Dead, will once again host the compelling documentary series True Crime Story: It Couldn’t Happen Here. The show is set to return with a new season on Thursday, April 18 at 10PM ET/PT on SundanceTV, AMC+, and Sundance Now.

True Crime Story focuses on cases from small towns across America, delving into how these crimes impact the community and how the unique dynamics of a small town can affect the investigation. In each of the six episodes this season, Hilarie Burton Morgan travels to different states including Missouri, North Dakota, Mississippi, Alabama, Texas, and Maine. She meets with family members and local insiders as she unravels the complexities of each case and sheds light on the challenges faced by small-town justice.

Burton Morgan brings empathy and advocacy to these American crime stories in order to explore their profound impact on tight-knit communities. Additionally, she highlights previously adjudicated cases where doubts about the existing verdict linger. In fact, the first season of True Crime Story played an instrumental role in raising awareness for overlooked cases that ultimately led to securing freedom for Devonia Inman after 23 years of wrongful imprisonment.

The producers behind True Crime Story are eager to continue shedding light on hidden narratives by encouraging individuals who are aware of overlooked cases in small towns to submit their stories via email at ichhstories@gmail.com.
