Bottle Boys (ITV Sitcom Robin Askwith, Richard Davies)

Sitcom Bottle Boys detailed the exploits of dodgy milkman Dave Deacon (Robin Askwith) who worked for South London firm Dawson Dairies. Other milkmen who worked for Dawsons included Scotsman Jock Collin (Phil McCaul) and teddy-boy Billy Watson (David Auker). Depot manager was Stan Evans (Richard Davies).

Created by Vince Powell Bottle Boys is often touted as the nadir of the ITV sitcom canon. It apparently sought to mix the Robin Askwith of the Confessions film with more of Powell’s stereotypes as seen in Mind Your Language and Love Thy Neighbour. This being the mid-1980’s and the height of a new wave of political correctness and an alternative comedy boom meant Bottle Boys was seriously out of touch. Surprisingly it ran for two seasons.
