What can we expect from this episode

Wrexham at 10 a.m. Critical Care Paramedic Will Meadows and Dr. Steve Dauncey are called to Helimed 03 after hearing reports of a farmer being hit in the head by a one-ton hay bale in a rural area.

John, the farmer, is reportedly coughing up blood and having trouble breathing due to bleeding from his nose and mouth. The impact was so severe that Will and Dr. Steve found John with multiple broken ribs and, even worse, a punctured lung, putting his life in danger. Will and Dr. Steve must perform emergency surgery on the side of the road to save John’s life; he is in critical condition.

A man in Redditch has passed out at his desk and is rapidly turning blue. Critical care paramedic Mitch is called immediately and upon arrival discovers the man is in cardiac arrest with no signs of life. Despite all odds, Mitch and the ambulance crew manage to save the man’s life.

Doreen, 76, has a terrible day because she falls down her stairs at home 50 miles away in Burton on Trent. Fay Pollock, a Critical Care Paramedic, responds quickly because she worries a stroke may be to blame for the fall.

Doreen, whom Fay discovers awake and alert but with an exposed wound at the back of her head, is the victim. She’s already complaining of chest pain from the fall, and it looks bad.

Documentary following emergency response teams in the West Midlands on their most extreme medical callouts, often involving roadside surgery to save people’s lives.
