This four-part series, hosted by Tony Armstrong and including guests such as Nazeem Hussein, Benjamin Law, Jean Kittson, Richard Glover, and Kevin Kropinyeri, reveals the unexpected histories of some of Australia’s most beloved and reviled cultural icons.

Each episode focuses on a different facet of Australian culture, with the premiere examining some of our most beloved cuisine.

This episode explores the history of some of Australia’s most beloved foods, including the meat pie, the Macadamia nut (one of the country’s oldest and tastiest foods) and the marketing strategies that helped popularise the Granny Smith apple, the Chiko Roll, and the one and only: Vegemite. The most intriguing tale, though, is how a tiny chocolate frog inspired some of the greatest expeditions ever undertaken by humankind over land, sea, and air.
