This MGM+ original docuseries, directed and executive produced by James Buddy Day (Blumhouse’s Compendium of Horror, Fall River), follows the gruesome grave robber and serial killer Ed Gein, also known as “The Plainfield Ghoul” and “The Mad Butcher,” whose crimes inspired such classic films as Psycho, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and The Silence of the Lambs. Viewers will be immersed in Gein’s perverse mind and transported to late 1950s Middle America thanks to new revelations and recordings that have never before been heard by filmmakers, journalists, and scholars.

The series delves into Gein’s childhood and twisted relationship with his mother (which famously inspired Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho), as well as his early grave robbing, the murders leading up to his arrest, and the police’s discovery of his terrifying house of horrors, all while incorporating the brand new revelations revealed in the recordings.
