The Kemps: All Gold (BBC Two Friday 29 December 2023)

In “The Kemps: All Gold,” Gary and Martin Kemp return in this follow-up to the acclaimed film, “The Kemps: All True.” Written by Rhys Thomas, the series continues to hilariously delve into the lives of the iconic Kemp brothers as they face personal struggles, write a biopic, and even form a supergroup.

Lives, Laughter, and Absurdity Await

Tonight on BBC Two is the highly anticipated mockumentary, “The Kemps: All Gold.” This follow-up to the already legendary 2020 film, “The Kemps: All True,” continues to hilariously delve into the lives of the iconic Kemp brothers, Gary and Martin.

Written by the talented Rhys Thomas, who also penned the original film and is known for his work on CBBC’s “Dodger,” “The Kemps: All Gold” sees Thomas return as the award-winning documentary filmmaker, Rhys Thomas OBE. Over the course of a year, he documents the trials and tribulations of the Kemp brothers, as they embark on writing a biopic about Spandau Ballet, face personal struggles, and even form a supergroup.

The plot picks up a few years after the events of the first film, with Gary Kemp’s character, Gary, finding himself in the countryside, determined to write the ultimate biopic. However, he has recently separated from his wife and has encountered some legal issues along the way.

“The Kemps: All Gold” boasts an incredible ensemble cast, including Michael Kitchen as the long-suffering manager of the Kemp brothers, and Perry Benson portraying their brother, Ross Kemp. The film also features Adil Ray, Christopher Eccleston, Danny John-Jules, David Arnold, Dexter Fletcher, Ed Kear, Ellie-May Sheridan, Lenny Rush, Lucy Montgomery, Matt Allwright, Paul Reynolds, Shirlie Kemp, Tamzin Outhwaite, and Francis Rossi.

Martin Kemp himself promises that “The Kemps: All Gold” is funnier than its predecessor, describing it as “brilliant, bonkers, and so funny.”

Set to premiere on Friday 29 December 29, at 10pm on BBC Two
