Meet the Grime Kids: Tienne Simon (Bishop)

Grime Kids is a coming-of-age BBC drama that takes place in Bow, East London, in 2001. The series chronicles the “last summer as kids” of a fictitious group of high school seniors. We accompany Dane, Junior, Kai, Bishop, and Bayo as they confront challenges such as first loves, strained personal relationships, financial constraints, near-death experiences, and the perpetual inquiry: what kind of man do you aspire to become? While pursuing (with varying degrees of zeal) a brand-new, perhaps unjustified ambition to achieve superstar status in the garage music industry.
One of the main characters in Grime Kids is Bishop, played by Tienne Simon. Bishop is described as loyal, capable, and loving. What sets him apart is his ability to excel in various aspects of life. He performs well in school, is skilled in sports, and has a talent for music that brings people together. However, Bishop struggles with finding the right direction for his energy. Coming from a good home with hardworking parents, he feels the pressure to live up to their expectations. His emotional maturity makes him feel like an older brother to some of his friends in the group. Bishop’s main goal is to belong and be accepted by his peers, but at 16 years old, he may not fully understand how to express that. While he cares about what others think of him, his desire to be cool stems from a personal desire for self-validation rather than seeking the spotlight.
When asked about the best wardrobe among the characters, Tienne Simon mentions that Dane, another character in the show, has the best wardrobe on set. Dane’s collection of caps and his DJ equipment make him stand out in terms of fashion. While Bishop may not be the best dressed among the group, he certainly isn’t the worst either.
Regarding favorite filming locations, Tienne Simon mentions two. The first is Tanika’s house, which provided a fun and enjoyable experience for the cast. The second is a location with basketball hoops, as Tienne personally enjoys playing basketball.
