Alan Davies, Travel Man: 48 Hours in Trieste, 22 March, Channel 4
Prepare for another adventure with Joe Lycett as he presents a brand new episode of Travel Man titled “48 Hours in Trieste.” Set to air on Channel 4 on Friday, March 22, 2024, at 8:30 PM., Joe guides his celebrity guest through a fun-packed itinerary showcasing Trieste’s highlights within just two days.
In this episode, Joe is joined by Alan Davies as they explore the history of Trieste, a former major seaport of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. From the moment they check into their heritage hotel, which is housed in a former insurance company, they immerse themselves in the city’s rich past. Trieste is renowned for its Bora, a powerful northeast wind that shapes both the city and its residents. To delve further into this phenomenon, Joe and Alan visit The Wind Museum curated by Rino. The museum boasts an intriguing collection of wind samples donated from around the world. In true broadcasting fashion, Joe and Alan come prepared with wind samples from home.
Venturing a few miles north of Trieste, they find themselves in Prosecco village where they indulge in food and fizz pairing. Luckily, Trieste is Italy’s caffeine capital, making it the perfect place to cure any resulting hangovers. At Caffe San Marco, a historical coffee house once frequented by James Joyce, Joe and Alan bask in authentic Cambridge history while sipping on their energising brews.
No mini-break is complete without learning a new skill to brag about upon returning home. Thus, Joe and Alan enroll in a painting class to add an artistic touch to their itinerary. Crossing over into Slovenia for a brief escapade, they visit Lipica Stud Farm—a home to 300 Lipizzaner white horses—where they witness a dressage show and partake in a riding lesson.
Don’t miss out on this new episode of Travel Man as Joe Lycett brings his trademark humour and fascinating facts to Trieste on Channel 4 at 8:30 PM on Friday, March 22, 2024.
