First-Look Images for The Way Revealed by BBC
The BBC has unveiled the first-look images for The Way. Created by the talented trio of Michael Sheen, James Graham, and Adam Curtis, this three-part series takes audiences on a thrilling journey with an ordinary family caught up in extraordinary circumstances. Filmed in and around Port Talbot, The Way explores the social and political chaos of today’s world through the lens of a civil uprising in a small industrial town.
Leading the cast are Steffan Rhodri (Steeltown Murders, Gavin and Stacey), Mali Harries (Keeping Faith, Hinterland), Sophie Melville (The Pact, Iphigenia In Splott), Callum Scott Howells (It’s A Sin, Cabaret), and Michael Sheen (Staged, Good Omens) as the members of the Driscoll family. The story also features Maja Laskowska (Trigonometry, Baptiste) as a young woman caught up in their story.
Joining the cast are Luke Evans (Nine Perfect Strangers, The Pembrokeshire Murders) as Hogwood, a relentless mercenary in pursuit of the Driscolls, and Tom Cullen (The Gold, Weekend), Danny Sapani (Killing Eve, The Diplomat), Mark Lewis Jones (Outlander, The Crown), Paul Rhys (Discovery of Witches, Chaplin), Erin Richards (The Crown, Gotham), Aneurin Barnard (The Catch, 1899), Catherine Ayers (The Light in the Hall, Keeping Faith), Patrick Baladi (Breeders, Line of Duty), Georgia Tennant (Staged, Doctor Who), Jonathan Nefydd (Pobol y Cwm, Grav), and Matthew Aubrey (Keeping Faith, World on Fire) in significant roles throughout the series. Child actor Teilo James Le Masurier will also make his screen debut as Rhys, the Driscolls’ 4-year-old grandson.
Ambitious, thought-provoking, and laced with dark humor, The Way presents viewers with impossible choices and explores the notion of home in the face of uncertainty.
Who is behind the series
The Way is a BBC production in association with Little Door Productions. The series was developed and executive produced by Bethan Jones. It is written by James Graham, and marks the directorial debut of Michael Sheen for television. The producer is Derek Ritchie. Executive producers for Red Seam include Adam Curtis, James Graham, and Michael Sheen, alongside Bethan Jones. Rebecca Ferguson represents the BBC, while Nick Andrews handles production for BBC Cymru Wales. International distribution is managed by ITV Studios, with additional funding support provided by the Welsh Government through Creative Wales.
