The release date for season 2 of the BBC crime drama “Granite Harbour” has been announced, with the show returning to screens in May 2024. The three-part series will air on BBC Scotland on Thursday, May 2, at 10 pm, followed by BBC One and iPlayer on Friday, May 3, at 8 pm.
The show, set in Aberdeen, follows the investigations of Detective Davis Lindo (Romario Simpson) and his partner DS Lara ‘Bart’ Bartlett (Hannah Donaldson). The first season, which premiered in December 2022, garnered 7.6 million streams on iPlayer and became one of the streaming platform’s favourites in 2022.
Season 2 will see the return of series leads Simpson and Donaldson, reprising their roles as Lindo and Bartlett. Filming for the new season began in October 2023, and it will delve into the relationship between their characters and the dynamics of the team. Simpson expressed his delight at returning to Scotland for filming, while Donaldson, who grew up in northeast Scotland, shared her pride in representing her home region on screen.
While specific plot details are scarce, it is known that Lindo and Bartlett will be called to the harbour to investigate the origins of a new crime wave sweeping the city.
