ITV Give Medical Thriller “Malpractice” Series 2 Order
ITV’s Head of Drama, Polly Hill, has recommissioned the critically acclaimed thriller, Malpractice, for a second series. The show, produced by World Productions, is the most watched new drama of 2023 on ITV1, with the launch episode attracting 6.7 million viewers within 28 days. The five-part series will be executive produced by Simon Heath, CEO of World Productions, and former NHS doctor, Grace Ofori-Attah, who will also return to write.
The second series of Malpractice will premiere on ITV1 and will be available for streaming on ITVX. The first series, which debuted in April, received praise from critics for its intricate plot and powerful authenticity. It starred Niamh Algar, Helen Behan, Jordan Kouamé, and James Purefoy. The upcoming series will see Behan and Kouamé reprising their roles as Dr. Norma Callahan and Dr. George Adjei, respectively, as they investigate another suspected case of medical negligence.
Writer Grace Ofori-Attah expressed her excitement about bringing another series of Malpractice to TV screens and exploring a new and exciting area of medicine. The show is produced in association with ITV Studios, which also handles global distribution. World Productions, known for producing highly rated dramas such as The Pembrokeshire Murders and Line of Duty, won the Best Independent Production Company award at last year’s Broadcast Awards. Filming for the second series of Malpractice is set to begin next year.
