Ncuti Gatwa Debuts as “Doctor Who” Christmas Day on BBC One
The Fifteenth Doctor, played by Ncuti Gatwa, and his companion Ruby Sunday, played by Millie Gibson, take on their first adventure, facing goblins and featuring a musical number. Premieres Christmas Day.
Introducing the Fifteenth Doctor: A Christmas Day Adventure
The upcoming episode of Doctor Who, titled “The Church On Ruby Road,” is highly anticipated as it marks the debut of Ncuti Gatwa as the Fifteenth Doctor. Joining him is Millie Gibson, who will play the Doctor’s companion, Ruby Sunday. The episode, airing on BBC One and BBC iPlayer, will see the Doctor encountering mythical and mysterious goblins as his life becomes intertwined with Ruby Sunday.
Little is known about Ruby Sunday, who was abandoned as a baby and now lives with her mother, Carla, and grandmother, Cherry. The episode will also feature Davina McCall playing herself, alongside other cast members including Michelle Greenidge, Angela Wynter, and Anita Dobson.
One notable aspect of the episode is the inclusion of a musical number called “The Goblin Song,” composed by Murray Gold with lyrics from Russell T. Davies. The song will be available to stream and download, with proceeds benefiting BBC Children In Need.
Showrunner Russell T Davies expressed his excitement for Doctor Who’s return on Christmas Day. Davina McCall salso hared her honor at being part of Ncuti’s first episode as the new Doctor, noting that it was an extraordinary experience.
