BBL dominates Seven’s ratings with 1.9M.
The BBL season kicked off with a bang on Seven, reaching 1.9 million viewers. With a strong start, the Summer of Cricket promises big crowds, big players, and exciting matches ahead.
BBL Launches on Seven with 1.9 Million Viewers
The latest season of the Big Bash League (BBL) premiered on Seven Network with an impressive reach of 1.9 million Australians. The match between the Brisbane Heat and the Melbourne Stars garnered an average of 504,000 viewers nationally, ranking #1 in its timeslot across all demographics. Seven Network claimed a 41.1% national commercial audience share, making it the most-watched network of the night. This marks a 4% increase in audience compared to the previous season’s opener.
Lewis Martin, Managing Director of Seven Melbourne and Head of Network Sport, expressed satisfaction with the strong start of the BBL season, highlighting the network’s live and free coverage and the popularity of cricket in Australia.
The BBL|13 season promises to be an exciting one, with Seven Network set to broadcast all 34 prime-time matches, including the finals, live and free to Australian audiences. The network has also planned an extensive coverage of BBL matches to coincide with Australia’s Test series, offering cricket fans a packed schedule of live and free matches.
The season will conclude on January 17, with the finals series commencing on January 19 and the Final scheduled for January 24.
Fans can also look forward to the return of the cricket analysis show “The Spin“, hosted by Lisa Sthalekar, Jason Richardson, and Brad Hodge, airing every Thursday on Channel 7, 7mate, and 7plus throughout the BBL season.
