THE GILGO BEACH KILLER: Lifetime Announces Special Airing of This True-Crime Movie, Sunday, August 6
The shocking true-crime movie The Gilgo Beach Killer will air on Lifetime on Sunday, August 6 at 8PM/7c, as part of the network’s “Ripped from the Headlines” August programming, in light of the recent arrest of Rex Heuermann, a suspect in multiple murders on Long Island, New York.
The film, which stars Kim Delaney and was originally titled The Long Island Serial Killer: A Mother’s Hunt for Justice, chronicles a mother’s quest for justice in the hunt for her daughter’s murderer. Deborah Norville, winner of an Emmy® Award and the show’s executive producer, will also unveil new information about the heinous case of the Gilgo Beach Killer.
The film is based on the true story of a mother who dedicates herself to finding out what happened to her daughter Shannan after she goes missing. Emmy® Award winner Kim Delaney (NYPD Blue) plays Mari Gilbert. As a result of Mari’s efforts to find the truth, authorities on Long Island uncovered the bodies of several women who had apparently all met the same grisly end at the hands of the same serial killer. After this grisly find in 2010, authorities spent over a decade trying to identify a possible killer.
