The Young Offenders: Season 4 Premieres 10 May on BBC One
After a Three-Year Time Jump, Conor and Jock Find Themselves on the Wrong Side of the Law Again
The Irish comedy series The Young Offenders returns for its fourth season, airing on BBC One and streaming on BBC iPlayer from Friday, 10 May 2024. This season marks a new direction for the show, with a time jump that finds lead characters Conor MacSweeney (Alex Murphy) and Jock O’Keeffe (Chris Walley) on separate paths.
Created by Peter Foott, the series is known for its blend of humor and heartwarming moments, following the misadventures of two Cork rogues. In the new season, Conor adjusts to life after prison, returning to a changed Cork. His mother, Mairéad (Hilary Rose), is now happily married to Sgt. Healy (Dominic MacHale), and Jock remains in prison, this time in Colombia.
The season premiere explores Conor’s struggle to adapt to his new family dynamics and the absence of his best friend. The show continues to deliver its signature mix of comedy and emotion, with the characters maturing yet retaining their mischievous spirits. An unexpected friendship also develops between Conor and Billy Murphy (Shane Casey).
First introduced as a film in 2016, The Young Offenders later transitioned into a successful TV series, with seasons 2 and 3 filmed consecutively in 2019. The show has since built a dedicated fan base, attracting 6.3 million viewers on BBC iPlayer and receiving critical acclaim.
The Young Offenders is streaming on BBC iPlayer from Friday May 10, 2024 and will air on BBC One on Friday nights at 9.30pm
